| JYF, NSF, Team sunderbani demand action against JU VC for his pro-militant statement | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 11: Jammu Youth Forum (JYF) today protest against VC Prof R D Sharma for kept soft corned for militants.
Addressing the gathering here today, Deepak Kumar University President JYF expressing Shock and anguish over the statement of the Vice chancellor, and said that this type of statements demoralize the spirit of the security forces. He should not ignore the fact that Burhan's fight against the state had motivated large numbers of youths, including many teenagers, to take up arms.
Deepak said being an academician the VC should have confined his statements concerning to academics only instead of creating a controversy over the dread terrorist Burhan Wani who was a traitor and involved in waging a war against the nation.
He also appeal to Chancellor of the University, Governor N N Vohra Sharma demanded that the VC be sacked for his utterances as it does not behold good for a man like who heads one of the prestigious universities of country to make such a statement.
Meanwhile National Secular Forum (NSF) protest against Vice Chancellor supported the sentiment of separatist forces and opposed the action of security forces.
Addressing the gathering Dr Vikas Sharma State President NSF, said that the Vice Chancellor of Jammu University, Prof Ramji Dass Sharma who is notorious for victimizing the students and scholars owing to personal vengeance has lately developed soft corner for militants which is evident from his recent statement media on killing of slain HM commander Burhan Wani. Dr. Vikas Sharma called the same as highly objectionable and against the popular nationalist sentiment of the countrymen.
Pertinently, the Vice Chancellor stated that "it would have been better had Hizb-ul-Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani been captured alive and arrested instead of being killed in an encounter. His killing adversely affected peace in the region and led to several killings and destruction."
Terming the VC's comment highly humiliating for the University of Jammu, Dr Sharma said, "at a time when the security forces are making huge sacrifice for the nation in general and for the people of Jammu and Kashmir in particular, such a comment by the Vice Chancellor of an esteemed institution is itself an insult to our armed forces" he added. He further said that the Chancellor and the Pro-Chancellor of Jammu University should take cognizance of the episode and take stern action against Prof. R.D Sharma.
Taking strong exception to the anti-national statement of the Jammu University Vice Chancellor Prof R D Sharma, Team Sunderbani while expressing serious concern urged Governor J&K State and the Prime Minister to take cognizance of the same and take necessary action against him.
Arun Kumar Sharma Coordinator Team Sunderbani said that the Vice-Chancellor has created doubts about his credentials as such a statement was not expected from an academician of his stature and it looks that he is playing in the hands of separatists and anti national forces.
Arun Kumar Sharma reminded, Separatist sponsored shutdown has affected the education as schools, colleges and other educational institutions continued to remain shut in the Valley and not the parents, teachers and students as VC has mentioned in the press conference. Vice- Chancellorship is an official position and he has no right to create unnecessary question marks on the security forces. |
