RDD fails to remove footpath encroachments | Wayside venders choke Samba town | | M S NAZKI Early Times Report
POONCH, Nov 11: Rural Development Department Mendhar has failed to remove encroachments from footpaths in Samba town. This also gives an ugly look to markets and creates problem for general public. Footpath in Mendhar Town and entire route of the Mendhar Bazar is completely encroached by vegetable deller ,garment, footwear ,crockery and fruit seller. People alleged that the RDD Mendhar and District and Tehasil Administration has totally failed to remove encroachment from footpath by vendors. Several vendors outside of the state too are mushrooming in Mendhar without any fear of authorities. RDD Mendhar authorities allow vendors to sell their merchandise on the foot paths which results in choking and jamming of the all important road. Jams also pose threat to lives of patients shifted to or from the hospital. Concerned department launched anti encroachment drive only eye wash to the people of Mendhar and save the skin in front of district And Tehasil administration. Apart from that other hawkers too spread their shops on the roadsides and on the footpaths leaving virtually no space to walk. Several Shopkeepers and vendors display the items on road and footpaths, due to encroachment on footpaths the Main Bazar is fully captured by vendors and shopkeepers. As illegal encroachment also continues on state land in Gohlad Mendhar near new bus stand and adjoining areas, people continue constructing shops and houses in govt land without any fear. But the officers of the concerned department shut their eyes to the criminal Act for reasons best known to them. |
