DPS Jammu celebrates Gurupurab, Children's Day | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 11: Delhi Public School, Jammu organized a special assembly to celebrate Gurupurab and Children's Day. Welcoming the gathering, Keran VI-C and Anshul Desai VI-C of Jhelum House enlightened the students about the saintly qualities of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Guru of Sikhs. They also expressed their deep reverence for Pt. Jawarahar lal Nehru, fondly called Chacha Nehru, on his birth anniversary. The program started on auspicious note with Shabad Kirtan presented by the students of classes V & VI. It was followed by floral tributes to Chacha Nehru by the Principal and the Staff. After the floral tributes, the school choir, in synchronization with the talented student percussionists, presented a melodious song on 'Bal Diwas' which mesmerized the gathering. This was followed by Gatka presentation symbolizing the valour of the Sikh community and importance of a true warrior for the country when he picks up the weapon to claim the right justice. The programme ended on a lighter note with a scintillating dance performance by the teachers and students that stole the hearts of all. The Headmistress Meenu Gupta in her address dwelt at length on the lives of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. |
