Ranjit's hat trick guides BSF to 5-1 win against SSB
65th All India Police Hockey Championship

JAMMU, Dec 10: Talk of the venue, Ranjit Singh today made first hat trick of the tournament thereby guiding BSF to an impressive 5-1 win against SSB on the inaugural day of the 65th All India Police Hockey Championship, organised by J&K Police at twin venues of K K Hakhu Stadium and University of Jammu ground, here.
Ranjit struck in the 39th, 47th and 50th minute to complete his hat trick of field goals. Harmanjit Singh and skipper, Harbajan Singh were other scorers, who sounded the board in the 22nd and 38th minute of the match respectively. From SSB, Sandeep Singh reduced the margin netting the ball in the 65th minute.
In another match of the day, played at the same venue of K K Hakhu Stadium, Maharashtra inflicted a humiliating 15-0 win against Rajasthan. Vinod Mimbore (3rd, 16th, 37th, 43rd, 46th, 55th), Anirudh More (6th), Pruthviraj Salunkhe (19th, 62nd, 69th), Kunal Jagdale (44th, 47th), Satyajit Sawant (58th) and Sunil Sawant (66th) were the scorers. Tamil Nadu also won their match played against Chandigarh beating latter 4-0. Moriya Stalin (5th and 57th), Killivalavan (46th) and Rajesh (66th) sounded the board.
The title holders, ITBP defeated Uttrakhand in a group-A match. Jasvinder Singh netted both the field goals striking in the later stages of the match in 59th and 61st minute. From Uttrakhand, Amit Aswal was the scorer, who sounded the board in 60th minute.
Manipur registered a fine 4-1 win against Madhya Pradesh. P Jupitor (19th), Th. Birjit (29th), M Shanti Kumar (37th) and N Shanta (67th) were the scorers. Rais Ahmed converted a penalty corner from Madhya Pradesh in the 70th minute.
Likewise, Maharashtra, CRPF too made it a huge 14-0 win against Gujarat Police. Bikash Jujur (5th, 8th, 12th, 16th and 61st), Jayant Tirky (10th, 19th), Igancius Toppo (25th, 34th), Rajinder Singh (30th), Javed Khan (50th, 67th), Kuldeep Ekka (60th, 64th) were the scorers.

K K Hakhu Stadium: J&K Police V/s Puducherry at 7.30 am; Rajasthan V/s Punjab at 9 am; SSB V/s Uttar Pradesh at 10.30 am; CISF V/s Chandigarh at 12 noon; Talengana V/s Tamil Nadu at 2 pm.
JU Ground: Jharkhand V/s RPF at 7.30 am; West Bengal V/s Andhra Pradesh at 9 am; Chhastigarh V/s Haryana at 10.30 am; Odisha V/s Madhya Pradesh at 12 noon.
