Jammu, Dec 10: The Vice Chancellor of Jammu University had to face 'humiliation and embarrassment' after Governor N.N. Vohra skipped second annual North Zone Inter University Declamation Contest. According to sources within the University, the Governor, who happens to be the chancellor of the university, skipped the function, wherein he was invited by the Vice Chancellor, Prof RD Sharma. "On December 8, the university issued a circular marked as most urgent/immediate, requesting Dean, Registrar, Controller of Examination, all Rectors, HODs, Directors, convenors Board of Research Studies and Officers upto the rank of Joint Registrar to ensure their presence on the occasion. Further it was stated that Governor shall be the chief guest for the function to be held on December 9," said sources, adding that it was an important event as all the senior most officers of the university and other distinguished guests had been invited. The sources maintained that it was shocker for everybody, especially senior functionaries of the university, who were eager to be a part of the function, when the Chancellor did not arrive at the venue. "At the eleventh hour, the Governor skipped the function for unknown reasons, putting the credibility of the university at stake," said sources. They said that a series of wrongs committed by the present dispensation headed by the VC has been inferred as the reasons behind the reluctance of Governor to attend the function. "The media keeps on highlighting the wrongdoings of the VC and his team, and the Governor, as a man of principles, does not take it lightly. Therefore it has been assumed that the Governor missed the event keeping in consideration bad image of the VC," said sources. They said it was alleged that the Vice Chancellor has never taken the issues seriously. Summarizing the irregularities and violations of norms, statutes and other rules by the university administration, sources said by violating the "one man, one post" norm, Prof Sharma crossed all limits. PG Political Science, PG Economics, M.Ed and B.Ed; inordinate delay in holding examinations and declaring results; cancelling of interview for the post of Assistant Registrar in which daughter of the VC was a candidate; delaying interview for administrative posts like Director DDE, Director Colleges Development, Registrar Controller of Examination. |
