Akshay Azad Early Times Report jammu, Dec 12: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) had answer sheets in bulk, far excess to the requirements of Board, purchased by the officials only to pocket kickbacks. Moreover, sources also maintained that JKBOSE authorities faced lot of problems to store these excess answer sheets and continuation sheets. Besides the variation in approved rates for the sheets is under question. All the purchases were made from M/s Geeta Offset Printers by the JKBOSE. In response to RTI application, the JKBOSE authorities furnished a reply, according to which, 11,00000 answer sheets for class 10th, and 6 lakhs sheets for class 12th besides 25,000 continuation sheets were purchased in the month of May, 2011, whereas in the month of August of same year 4,50000 answer sheets and one Lakh continuation sheets were purchased by Board for Kashmir division. For the month of October, 2011, the JKBOSE once again purchased 5 Lakhs answer sheets besides 1,40,000 continuation sheets besides for the same month, the Board purchased 2 lakhs more answer sheets and one Lakhs continuation sheets. For Jammu division the JKBOSE purchased 14 Lakhs of answer sheets besides 1,30,000 continuation sheets in the month of November 2011. In the month of May, 2012, the JKBOSE purchased 6,50000 answer sheets whereas for the month of August, JKBOSE purchased 17 Lakhs answer sheets and 25,000 continuation sheets for Kashmir division. For Jammu division, JKBOSE purchased 15 Lakhs answer sheets and 2 Lakhs of continuation sheets for the month of November 2012. Sources in JKBOSE informed Early Times that these disclosures were just tip of an iceberg as huge purchased were made by authorities only to get kickbacks. "We had to face lot of problems to store these answer sheets as major chunk of sheets were not used during the year 2011-12 but sheets were purchased. The Board is collecting huge amount from the schools as part of examination fee but same is used for wasteful purposes", an RTI activist said, adding that an enquiry into the matter would easily expose the wasteful expenditure made by some former officials of Board, only for their own gains. |
