Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 14: Hundreds of Special Police Officers (SPOs) aspirants in Kupwara district of north Kashmir are awaiting their adjustment orders from the past around two months. A circular for engagement of SPOs in Kupwara was issued under the PHQ advertisement No. GB/M-32/2016/46737-800 vide dated 6-08-2016. The physical tests were held from October 13- 23. The aspirants who cleared the physical tests are awaiting helplessly for the final merit lists to come, but there has been no communication from the administration. Official sources told Early Times that a higher official of the district administration has issued the merit list arbitrarily without taking the consent of the police department which is also the nodal agency to decide the merit. Sources said even the tentative list issued was not even accepted by the Divisional Commissioner being without signatures. A police official while pleading anonymity said the list given by then DC "was not approved as it had errors, and even some of the candidates who got selected in the physical test were not considered in the merit list". When contacted by Early Times, SSP Handwara said the completion of appointment process requires the final nod of Deputy Commissioner concerned, but since the DC retired about 15 days back and his successor is yet to join the office, it will take some time to get the list finalized. He assured that the list would be issued as soon as the new DC joins office. |
