For Geelani & family, it's time for 'Delhi chalo' | Aged separatist to spend winter in the national capital | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Dec 14: After keeping Kashmir hostage for around four months with his protest calendar, the Huriyat hawk Syed Ali Geelani is all set to leave for New Delhi to spend winters there. Reports say the 87-year-old octogenarian is leaving for Delhi soon and that he has decided to spend the entire winter period in the national capital only. Since 2007, Geelani has been going to Delhi during the winter period every year and stays at the residence of his daughter located at Malvia Nagar. However, ahead of making the Delhi trip, Geelani while sensing trouble over his rhetorical strike calendars has hinted at breaking the strike chain. In the new protest calendar, the Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman along with Malik and Mirwaiz on Wednesday announced relaxation for four days while as calling for hartal for the mere two days period. Sources say in times to come, the entire protest calendar will be a history as it has lost relevance on ground and people have expressed disgruntlement over what they termed the separatist diktats. Meanwhile, Geelani's decision to leave Valley and stay in Delhi once again reveals the dubious separatist face infront of the masses. It has made people once again aware about how separatists have been using them for their own vested interests and leave them in lurch without even giving a damn to the woes faced by the common people on ground. From instigating masses to take law in their own hands to coercing people to remain locked inside their homes, Geelani and his aides did everything to take Kashmir at the brink of devastation once again. After suffering losses of crores, the business community including the transports in Valley have been once again left in deep crises with no result in hand- thanks to separatist politics. Moreover, sensing trouble for himself, Geelani has preferred to fled from the ground and take refuge in the national capital that otherwise is the centre of antagonism in his anti- India rants. "He (Geelani) during the entire winter period is likely to stay in New Delhi as it is warmer and liveable during the winter period," reports inform. On ground, the rout of this aged separatist looks inevitable. Young and old all in unison in Valley are at present training guns against Geelani over his politics of hate and divide, questioning his politics and approach. "We had the windows of our vehicles smashed and people were beaten to pulp for daring to come out during strikes. Now, when everything is back to normal, can we question what the separatists have achieved by pushing us into the dark ages," says Asif Qamar, a student here. Asif is not alone in Valley to have ridiculed the separatist politics, there are thousands like him including students, professionals and businessmen who are coming out in open and giving vent to their anger. Meanwhile, it is for sure that till Geelani returns from his winter trip, Valley shall remain peaceful and bustling. |
