M S Nazki Early Times Report
Poonch, Dec 14::It may sound strange but it is true that an information seeker RTI activist seeking works carried out under MGNREGA in the Mendhar Town is awaiting response for the last three years but the authorities have failed to provide the same, sources said here today. According to reports a social worker and RTI activist Imtiaz Ahmed Khan son of said Mohd Kahn of Harni had sought the details of MGNREGA works carried out in the district in 2013 including work plan , labourers, job card details, distribution of Govt material in Panchayats , besides total construction cost of works and so on. "And In this context he (activist) had submitted the application to the office of the BDO on September 11, 2013 and since then he has been making rounds to this office to get information which yet has been denied by the concerned department apparently making mockery of the RTI Act," sources added. "I repeatedly met with concerned officers including BDO Mendhar who seemed to just linger on the matter, Mr Khan said, lamenting, "BDO told me that my file is in the office of Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD ) Poonch and they will provide you the required information. While talking to Early Times, he said, "I think there are no takers of RTI Act in Poonch or the authorities prefer to delay the cases and buying time only while apprehending to be exposed of alleged misappropriations. Activist Mr Khan also added that he even has called on District Development commissioner (DDC) Poonch MH Malik but over 3 years have lapsed but the RTI plea is without any reply while the related file is biting dust in office of ACD Poonch. |
