Neeraj Badyal Early Times Report Samba, Dec 13: Overloading, which is often referred to as a major cause of road accidents across the state, continues unabated on different Samba routes under the nose of traffic police. Overloading of passenger vehicles, especially minibuses, is mostly seen on Bainglad and Sumb routes. People can be seen hanging from the doors of minibuses. "Though there is a traffic police naka near SIDCO phase II on Bainglad road, they surprisingly don't challan the overloaded minibuses that cross the naka," official sources alleged. Trucks, that remain parked by the road side in the area, obstruct free movement of other vehicles, but traffic police has so far not taken any note of it. Asked why they park their trucks by the national highway near Ghagwal and other Samba areas, they said they 'do so to avoid harassment on traffic police nakas'. Trucker Kuldeep Singh of Amritsar alleged that they were being harassed by traffic police personnel at different places on the highway. He called upon prime minister Narendra Modi to provide a solution to this menace. |
