Kathua, Apr 9 : Recalling the state as well central government a total failure, District Congress Committee President Former MLC Subash Chander Gupta said that neither the state nor the central government is giving heed to the hardships of the farmer community. Subash Gupta said these words after taking the loss position of damaged crops of the different areas of Kathua district. Alleging state as well central government agricultural policies responsible for the hardships of farmers, Subash Gupta said that farmer community, which fills the stomach of others is bound to starve himself. The governments despite helping the poor farmers', is busy in boosting their hardships and as a result, the farmers are committing suicides. He said that recent unseasonal heavy rains and hailstorm has immensely damaged the standing crops, hundred percent throughout the district. He said the administration is boasting of initiating survey of the loss however, until now administration has done nothing positive. Moreover, as the Assembly Session is going on but until now, government had not declared or taken any step for the welfare of the farmers. Subash Gupta taking note of land erosion said that until now, the Ujh,Tarnah and Beian River had swallowed hundreds' of acre land of the poor farmers of Mahi Chak, Airwan, Pandori, Nangal, Jarmal, Ghati , Kotpunnu, chabay chak, Tengdevpura, Rattnu Chak Ballian, Mathra chak, Muthi Charu, Sapalwan, Kunthal and other adjoining areas. Last year during the monsoon season, also the river carried away fertile land with him. However, neither the administration nor the flood department tried to give a hearing. As a result, during the recent rains the flood washed away hundreds of acre land of Mahi Chak, Airwan, Pandori, Nangal, Jarmal, Ghati , Kotpunnu, chabay chak, Tengdevpura, Rattnu Chak Ballian, Mathra chak, Muthi Charu, Sapalwan, Kunthal and other adjoining villages. Subash Gupta demanded the administration to take precautionary measures and construct protection dams where so ever needed. |
