Isn't it time to stop politicking over 'Honourable' return of KPs to Valley? | | | Abodh Sharma Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 9: The political storm that broke out following Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed's nod to proposed composite township for the Kashmiri Pandit community in the Valley and the manner in which the main opposition party National Conference shouldered with separatists in hypocritically opposing the move has not only exposed the double speak on the issue, but also raised serious suspicion over the vey intent of such a move. While both Separatists and the National Conference who had been shedding crocodile tears over 'incomplete kashmiriat ' without KPs , are opposing the move to rehabilitate the Community, arguing that they were against 'ghottisation'. Shameless hypocrisy of Separatist Yasin Malik and NC leaders Ali Mohammad Sagar and former CM Omar Abdullah has been woefully exposed as they know very well, how through a well hatched conspiracy, the properties of the KP community have been encroached, burnt and usurped using official machinery after forcing them to flee from their homes and hearths, leaving no scope for their return ever. While separatists apprehend 'Conspiracy to change demography' of Kashmir at the drop of the hat cannot be expected to support the return of KPs who actually compose the very demography of Kashmir, the duplicity of National Conference is laughable. The party that proposed rehabilitation policy for the return of militants from Pakistan and offered them concessions, freebies and even jobs is opposing the return of the original residents of Kashmir on frivolous pretext. While everyone knows that the conditions and sentiments are not at all conducive for the return of KPs, it is a pity that the ruling BJP and the RSS has done little to understand ground realities from the perspective of the Kashmiri Pandit community, which has come a long way since the painful turn of events that forced them into exile. While the vested interests within the fragmented KP leadership have been misrepresenting facts, many believe that very few among the migrant KP families actually want to return to the Valley though the older generation has been deeply and emotionally attached to its roots. Despite several soaps and concessions offered to the KPs as incentive to return to the valley, records indicate that the results have been dismal. KPs are well versed with the existing security situation in the valley and new order of life before thousands of families which have gainfully settled across the country and even abroad has left little curiosity in them to return to a place which was once their home and from where they were unceremoniously driven off. With KPs themselves weary of mere political posturing in their name by the BJP-RSS combine on one hand and Separatists and hypocrite Kashmir based parties on the other, time has probably come to stop politicking over 'Honourable' return of KPs to Valley. |
