JKNPP holds protest dharna, demands AIIMS for Jammu | | | Early Times Report
SAMBA, Apr 9 : Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) today held day long protest dharna at Samba to press for the demand of setting up AIIMS in Jammu region and to seek strong public support to make agitation successful. The institution like AIIMS can only support the already available medical edifice to provide satisfactory facilities to the ailing patients and looking into the needs and sentiments of the people of Jammu region. It has become imperative to provide adequate health services for the population living here, he added. Earlier the then NDA government headed by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had announced to establish AIIMS at Jammu and subsequently the then Union Health Minister Sushma Swaraj had laid foundation stone for AIIMS in Jammu but later it turned out to be a white elephant," said Chairman JKNPP Harshdev Singh. "BJP has retreated from all the tall promises made to the electorate of Jammu Pradesh ahead of Assembly elections last year and forged an unholy alliance with the PDP for mere lust of power. BJP has sold the pious mandate of Jammu Pradesh and meekly surrendered before the PDP for the political gains" Harshdev maintained. We demand AIIMS to be returned to Jammu region in consonance to the coveted demand of the people, he retorted. President Young Panthers, Yashpal Kundal and other senior leaders took part in the protest dharna. |
