Rajouri police organizes T20 cricket tournament

Rajouri, Apr 9: District Rajouri police under the supervision of AK Attri, DIG Rajouri-Poonch police range and Dr M Haseeb Mughal, SSP, under its Civic Action programmes have been holding many competitions among the youth and students at various places in the district.
Under one such endeavor and to harness the talent of local youth Rajouri police organized a T20 cricket tournament at District Police Lines, Rajouri in which 8 teams from various parts of the district competed for the title.
The final match of the tournament was played today between Eleven Star Cricket Club and Royal Cricket Club who had qualified for the final.
Deepti Uppal, IAS, deputy commissioner, Mohd Salim Malik, ADC were the chief guest and guest of honor on this occasion while besides Dr Haseeb Mughal, SSP, Tajinder Singh ASP, Ifitikar Ahemd Dy SP (operations) Hamid Choudhry Dy SP HQs etc large number of people from the city were also present to watch the final match.
Police spokesman said that after winning the toss, Royal Cricket Club (RCC) decided to bat first and made 144 runs in allotted 20 over for the loss of 7 wickets and Firdos Dar has made 43 runs in just 16 balls while Sonu Bhat of Eleven Star Cricket Club took 03 wickets in four over.
In reply, Eleven Star Cricket Club was bowled out just for 130 runs and looses the final match by 14 runs. Sunny made 23 runs of 15 balls while Sumit of RCC took 04 wickets in four over.
Gulbash who got 07 wickets in the tournament was declared man of the series while Firdos Dar remain man of the match.
Deputy Commissioner distributed the trophies among the winner and runner up teams. She appreciated the role of Rajouri Police for providing an opportunity to the local youth in exhibiting their talent in various sports activities.
"There is lot of scope in talent of local youth and that need to be nourished and Rajouri Police is committed to provide them a platform. In order to keep away the youth from indulging in drug menace and other anti-social activities, they need to be provided suitable platform " said SSP, Dr Haseeb Mughal.
Police have also provided track suits and sports kits to the players on this occasion.While appreciating the efforts of the Rajouri police, people appealed to SSP to organize such more tournaments in the future also.
