Widow of notorious drug dealer arrested with 4 kgs of narcotics
54 NDPS cases registered within 2 months in Jammu

Jammu, May 8: Widow of a notorious drug dealer in Jammu was arrested today and large quantity of narcotics was recovered from her house in Khour camp area, police said.
With the arrest of Preeto Devi, wife of infamous drug dealer in Jammu Sarfoo Ram, police claimed to have busted a major drug racket operating in the region.
The raid was conducted at Preeto's residence after police got inputs of the arrest of her two sons in Punjab with narcotics.
"Sarfoo Ram who was an infamous drug dealer in Jammu had died a couple of year ago; we came to know that his family too was involved in this illicit trade. On specific information, we raided his house in Khour camp area and recovered large quantity of narcotic substances from there," Inspector General of Police Jammu range Danish Rana told reporters here today.
The police raided the residence of Sarfoo Ram arrested his widow Preeto Devi and recovered 4.115 kg of narcotics (Heroine) valuing Rs 1 crore at International market and Rs 8,94,500 in cash, he said.
Rana said the kingpin of the racket, Ajieet Kumar, who is the younger brother of Sarfoo Ram managed to escape, adding "We shall nab him soon."
Her two sons who were also involved in the illicit trade were serving their terms in a Jail in Punjab, he said. They have been identified as Suny Kumar and Sanjay Kumar.
IGP Jammu divulged that police have registered as many as 54 cases under NDPS Act and seized huge quantity of the narcotics which included Poppy Husk, Brown Sugar, Heroine, Proxyvan capsules and other banned drugs.
The IGP said that in another incident, police in Jammu also arrested three drug peddlers.
Police Party of Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu laid a naka at Kalka Colony. During naka checking police party intercepted two persons and conducted their personal search and recovered 1008 Nos. of capsules of SPM-PRX from their possession. They were identified as Sher Bharat @ Shera S/o Swarn Lal R/o Kacha Talab, Bagh-e-Bahu and Padam Mehra @ Kodu S/o Thoru Ram R/o H. No. 515, Nai Basti, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. Both the accused were arrested and capsules seized . In this regard, case FIR No. 34/2015 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered and further investigation of the case is going on.
Naka Party of Police Station Janipur laid a surprised Naka at Main Chowk, Janipur and intercepted one M/Cycle bearing regd. No. JK 02 BG-2794 driven by Akash Gupta S/o Inder Prakash Gupta R/o H.No. 1252, Rehari Colony near J&K Board and back seater Tarun Gupta S/o Kamlesh Gupta R/o Rehari Colony. On their personal search, police party recovered 400 Capsules of Spasmoprosypon and 90 Tablets of Nitravet which they were carrying illegally. Both the accused were arrested along with Capsules and Tablets. In this regard, Case FIR No. 96/2015 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act stands registered and investigation of the case is going on.
