Early Times Report

Jammu, May 8: The state government might have been boasting of improving and providing health care facilities to all but the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Sartingal of Bhaderwah, district Doda is exposing these claims.
Two years on, not a single doctor has been posted by Health Department to the health institution.
Sources informed Early Times that the Institution has two posts of Assistant Surgeon, one post of Dental Surgeon, two posts of Nurses and one post of Junior Pharmacist was sanctioned but surprisingly at present only one Junior Pharmacist and one Nurse are in position.
They further said that the PHC Sartingal was running in papers for years and then the state government has sanctioned manpower but till date all posts of doctors have been lying vacant. Last year NRHM doctor was posted here but within months he was appointed for Shri Amarnath Yatra after that he didn't returned.
This health Institution has no laboratory facility while medicines are also found missing, even for a minor tooth ache; one has to cover several miles on foot and later kilometers by bus to reach Sub District Hospital Bhaderwah.
Rohit Kumar a resident of Sartingal said that politician treated them as only their voters and during elections, they come and go with never met promises.
He further said that the health institution is catering more than dozens of far- flung villages, who are spread across length and breadth of mighty mountains.
"Being poor people of a remote area, they don't have money to visit health institutions in adjoining places", he said, adding that one has to spend time with us, to know how we struggle in odd hours, in case of emergency.
They urged upon the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed to expedite the on-going development works in rural areas, especially related to health sector.
Despite repeated calls Block Medical Officer Bhaderwah could not be contacted.
