Early Times Report Rajouri, May 8: Large scale transfers of consultant doctors and medical officers (MOs) from various health institutions, including Rajouri district hospital, have badly affected the functioning of health institutions here as new doctors, after joining their duties, have proceeded on long leaves. The district hospital is the worst sufferer as even the post of Medical Superintendent is lying vacant as Dr Mehmood was attached with Director Office after his alleged involvement was proved in the embezzlement of NRHM funds while he was BMO at Darhal. In the absence of regular Medical Superintendent, pharmacists, nurses and other employees are alleged to be non-serious towards their duties and most of the work is being done by paramedic trainees. Today when a paramedic trainee injected a patient in the presence of permanent staff, patient's condition deteriorated and doctors were called. The patient has been identified as Shabina Kouser of ward No1 and is now responding to the treatment. Arif Qureshi, brother of the patient, and other family members have demanded immediate removal of paramedic trainees from the emergency ward and a probe into the matter. Dr Vijay Gupta, incharge Medical Superintendent District hospital said that it was not a reaction, as alleged by the family members, but a routine phenomenon after injecting antibiotic medicines. He said the patient was responding to treatment and had no complicacy and the matter had also been brought to the notice of higher authorities. Dr Anees, incharge CMO, said that Medical Superintendent had been asked to enquire into the matter and if any negligence was found on part of any staff member, action under rules would be initiated against him/her. |
