Worn out AC plant sounds alarm bells in GMCH | Authorities unmoved | |

Jammu, May 17:A major accident seems inevitable in the GMC hospital as the authorities seem in no mood to take remedial measures to prevent water leakage from the AC Plant located near the laundry of the hospital. Sources told Early Times that, the hospital administration had directed the Mechanical wing for installation of eleven new air conditioners and upgradation of ward number 11 which costs nearly Rs. 4 lakh. They further said that the condition of the plant is deteriorating day by day and the high flow is turning into a nightmare for staff of hospital. Thanks to the water leakage, staff and others have been spending anxious moments for the last some months. "The administration spends lakhs of rupees on new machinery but it has no funds for the plant, they said. "The quantity of water that has been leaking from the plant can cause a major accident as high tension wires are buried beneath the place where water has accumulated," said Som Nath Dabgotra. The matter has been taken up with the concerned repeatedly without results. The inaction of t he hospital administration has endangered lives of the the staffers and the patients. Medical Superintendent of GMC hospital Dr Ravinder Pal Singh said that the maintenance work of the plant has to be done by the Mechanical wing. "We can't do anything in this, "he added. Talking to Mechanical wing Executive Engineer of GMC hospital HS Chibber said that the government had directed them for install new AC in the hospital but no funds have been released for repair the AC Plant near laundry. "We informed to concerned authority about the matter but they turned blind eyes toward the matter, " he added. |
