Budgam killings: Enquiry report under legal consideration: GOC | `Army ready to thwart anti-peace designs of militants' | |

Srinagar, May 17: Stating that the army in Kashmir is ready to thwart anti-peace designs of militants, General Officer-in-Commandant Chinar Corps, Lt Gen Subrata Saha on Sunday said that inquiry report submitted to Northern command into Budgam killings is under legal consideration. "We have submitted the enquiry report to Northern-Command and the same is under legal consideration," GOC told reporters on the sidelines of a function in Pahalgam. He said that army is ready to face any challenge and will ensure security of all sorts. "Militants will try to make their presence felt and can disrupt peace but will no stone unturned to secure Srinagar-Jammu National Highway in particular and whole Kashmir in general," he said. General said that army intends to engage Kashmiri youth positively for preventing them to join militancy ranks. "We want to engage youth positively by organizing sports, cultural and others events. Organizing such events in past have yielded fruitful results. More and more Kashmiri youth are joining Indian army. A month before for 753 vacancies 22211 youths turned up in recruitment rally and so in past which vindicates our position and activities which we are carrying out," He said, adding employment generation will also help in preventing youth from joining militancy. GOC, who today on the third day of cultural feast "SUKOON" inaugurated blood donation camp said that army will continue to organize such events for boosting tourism and providing platform to Kashmiri youth for showcasing their hidden talent. In blood donation camp, a total of 87 volunteers donated blood in the best traditions of brotherhood and humanity. GOC Victor Force, Maj Gen Arvind Dutta; Commander 1 Sector RR, Brig Anmol Sood; DC Anantnag Bashir Ahmed; DIG, South Kashmir, Nitish Kumar, SSP Anantnag, Abdul Jabbar, CEO Pahalgam Developmnet Authority, Riaz Ahmad Wani and other attended the program. During the program, wheel chairs, sewing machines and hearing aids among disabled people were distributed. GOC also inaugurated Cycling adventure club of Pahalgam christened Wanderlust, by presenting 25 geared sports cycles. Soma Saha inaugurated the Anganwadi Project of Village Lidru where the ladies started a Lidru Pickles project. Former Indian Hockey Coach Mir Ranjan Negi along with students of Army Good Will School Lidru performed on the state while as famous Music Director and Composer Anand Raj Anand enthralled audiences by his sweet voice. Internationally renowned Painter Sudip Roy painted a landscape of the Kashmir Valley within 10 minutes. GOC reiterated the commitment of the Army to the wellbeing and empowerment of youth and women and also for promoting peace, prosperity, tourism in the Valley and showcasing the beauty, serenity and exquisiteness of the people of Kashmir.
