Jammu, May 17: In a bizarre instance of obsequiousness, the person who had dragged Jammu University to the Court has been given plum post in the legal cell of the varsity. Not only this, the varsity will also be paying the legal expenses of the writ petition, filed by the officer. In reply to an RTI, the University admitted that an officer of the University, Jai Kumar Sharma had filed a writ petition in the court against JU, including Vice Chancellor and Registrar. "The officer had filed a writ petition against the University, seeking appointment against the post of Director Development Council in the University of Jammu Vide Notice advt dated 8-August-2007," reads the RTI, adding, "The officer had also sought quashment of appointment of PS Pathania as controller of examination/ Registrar of JU." However, despite the fact that the officer dragged the University to the court, he was given post of In-charge legal cell of the varsity in the year of 2013 by the then Vice chancellor MPS Ishar. "The Officer had been in close liaison with the former vice chancellor-MPS Isher and have developed strong bonding with the incumbent VC-RD Sharma, therefore he was given plum post of Secretary of Vigilance Committee of the university," said senior officer in the University, wishing anonymity. He added that placing Jai Kumar Sharma as the incharge of legal cell amounts to 'letting the cat to guard the milk'. RTI reply also revealed that the University shall be bearing legal expenses of the officer for filing petition against the Varsity. "It was informed that the legal expenses of the writ petition shall be paid by the Jammu University," RTI reply reads. |
