Vijaypur, May 17: The farmers of Vijaypur constituency are still demanding compensation from the Government of Jammu and Kashmir for the loss of their rabi crops due to heavy rains and nature calamity.
In 2013 due to heavy rains in Jammu region destroyed crops, assets of the farmers and damaged the agriculture land. The previous Government has alleged that about Rs. 8.70 lakh were spent for construction of Bandh. In the last year 2014, again rains washed away the Bandh and exposed the claim of previous government as well as sub standard material used by the contractor.
The coalition government had promised adequate compensation for the loss of crops and other assets but till date nothing has been given.
The government had also promised free ration to the affected farmers/people. Funds for de-silting the sand from the agriculture land was also promised but nothing has been provided till date.
The unprecedented rain has damaged the Rabbi Crops, a month ago the administration along with sitting MLA and agriculture Minister had paid a visit to the area and had once again assured proper relief/compensation. The Govt. has announced that 50% K.C.C. loan shall be waived off but on ground nothing has been implemented. The farmers are awaiting the relief as well as compensation announced by the Government.
The farmers of border area told that they are facing double problems i.e. unprovoked firing from PAK side and unprecedented climate. The Govt. has announced that 05 marlas of plot shall be provided to the residents of border area in the safer place but all these have not been implemented on ground.
The people told that they have given a huge mandate to the BJP-PDP for the change and for stopping the corrupt practices but three months have been elapsed and no change has been seen anywhere.
