Early Times Report
Srinagar, Sept 9: The family of a minor student who was allegedly 'molested' by his school principal has approached court to seek justice.
Talking to Early Times, father of the student accused the Education Department authorities of ruining career of his son by accusing him of being habitual offender.
The in-house committee constituted by the Directorate of School Education has exonerated the principal of Sri Pratap High School (SPHS) Riyaz Siddiqui of all the charges. The committee had in its report submitted to Director Education accused the student of being a habitual 'trouble monger'.
"This is a matter of humiliation as the authorities absolved the accused of molestation charges. We belong to one of the far flung areas of Kashmir and cannot even think to malign the image of an educator in our wildest dreams," said the student's father.
He said the committee constituted to probe the issue "miserably failed to deliver justice" to his poor family.
"Neither the committee nor police have helped me. Now I have decided to approach the court to seek justice for my innocent son. I am a poor man, but I will fight till this case reaches to its logical conclusion," he said.
"Come what may I will fight against the injustice and bring the culprit to task. I am hopeful that the court of justice will definitely take action against the principal," he said.
The man alleged that his son, who is studying in the school in Class 9, was molested by the principal inside the school washroom last week.
The student's family had also alleged that the principal had lured him with money to indulge in the shameful act which was vehemently opposed by the student.
"The offence took place inside the school washroom last week. The principal initially offered Rs five thousand to him for indulging in the shameless act. However, when my son refused his offer he threatened him of dire consequences if he spoke about the incident to anybody," the family alleged.
However, the committee comprising principal SIB Kashmir, principal Government Girls High School Kothibagh and OSD (IMW) in its report has refuted the allegations leveled by the student and exonerated the principal of the charges.
