Director IT under scanner for poor performance | Week on, KU website defunct | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Sept 9: For the past around a week, the website of Kashmir University is defunct with regard to submission of forms for the new academic session. Scores of aggrieved students, who since last week have been unable to complete their registration due to snag in the website staged protests in the Kashmir University today. "The KU authorities didn't even mind to inform through print and electronic media as to when the website would be back in order," the students said adding their precious time has been going waste. A delegation of students from far off places like Kupwara said every day they have been visiting the Kashmir University main campus at Hazratbal for admission to 1st year bi-annual. "But the website snag has been hindering our prospects to get the admission done," the students rued. They said even though they visited the office concerned official Mushtaq Ahmed Wani, he didn't respond to their pleas. "He said we should keep waiting till the website gets in order," the students said. Sources said there was snag in the computer server cable which the IT department at the Kashmir University has been unable to repair. The technical staff said their growing differences with Director IT Marooq Qadri was responsible for poor IT services in the university. "Maroof Qadri is a backdoor entry, who doesn't even know how to make a PDF file of a word document... It's very difficult to work with an official of so poor a knowledge," said an engineer associated with the IT department. Meanwhile, the protesting students have appealed the Governor NN Vohra to get the credentials of Maroof Qadri with regard to his expertise scrutinized from a team of experts. "IT department of Kashmir University is a total failure, the Governor must get the loopholes probed," the students said. Despite repeated attempts the Kashmir University VC could not be contacted to comments. A KU official however said the website snag has been removed and that it has restarted working smoothly. |
