GAD, Revenue deptt stick to same notification; written test likely in November | Govt in no mood to change NT exam format | | Akshay Azad Early Times Report jammu, Sept 9: Anger is still brewing among people of Jammu region, over inclusion of Urdu as a compulsory descriptive subject with weightage of 30 marks in the syllabus of written test for post of Naib Tehsildar, but there seems no change in mood of Government to accept the demand of youth of Jammu province. The General Administrative Department (GAD) or Jammu and Kashmir Revenue Department or state cabinet can take decision to change exam pattern but so far there is no word from Government or from any other concerned department, despite the fact that written examination is likely to be held in November. Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) SA Raina said that Board was only an executing agency and the recruitment rules were finalized by Revenue department. "We are still busy in conducting other exams. The written exam for Naib-Tehsildar posts is likely to be held in November. Either State Government or Revenue Department can take decision over change of exam pattern", he said. Additional Secretary of General Administrative Department (GAD), Asgar Hussain said that the Revenue department was most appropriate authority to take call on change of recruitment rules. "After taking decision, the Revenue department will forward the same to GAD but so far, we have not received any such communiqué", he said. The Secretary of Revenue Department, Mohammad Afzal Bhat was on leave and additional change is given to Dheeraj Gupta, who said that though he got additional charge of Secretary Revenue department, few days back but assured that something would be done. Revenue Minister, Sunil Kumar Sharma didn't pick up his phone despite repeated calls. From the response of all the officers, it is evidently clear that there was no change in attitude of Government despite repeated protests and appeals made by youth of Jammu province to change the exam pattern. If same would be the stance of Government and Bhartiya Janta Party leaders, the youth of Jammu would be compelled to sit in the exams and majority of them would be out even in the written test, due to no knowledge of Urdu. "Though BJP boast itself to represent the aspirations of Jammu people but they are seemingly only interested for power. These BJP leaders are inaccessible and at the same time failed to project demands of Jammu youth assertively in cabinet meetings", Narinder Singh Jamwal, an aspirant for NT post said. He further said that the same SRO, the reference of which has been given by Government, was alive during NC-Congress regime but decision making Urdu compulsory was rolled back. "The BJP Ministers should at-least raise the issue in cabinet meetings for rolling back the decision otherwise this issue will only widen the gap between two religious communities", he said. |
