RSS, BJP 'Mission Kashmir' unites separatists under Geelani umbrella | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Sept 9: The mission Kashmir of BJP-RSS seems to have forced the moderate separatists to assemble under Hardliner Syed Ali Geelani's ‘Chatterchhaya’ as the three top moderate separatist leaders have once again exuded their confidence in veteran hardliner. After getting expelled from moderate faction led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq last year, three prominent separatist leaders Shabir Shah of Democratic Freedom Party, Nayeem Khan of National Front and Aga Syed Hassan Al-Mosvi Al-Safvi of Anjuman-e-Shar-e-Shian switched over to Geelani's faction in a press conference at Geelani's Hyderpora residence here. Their decision to join hardliner faction of Geelani has surprised all in valley and has created ripples in regional politics especially with vanishing of third separatist front in Kashmir. Defending the decision to join hardliner faction, Nayeem Ahmad Khan told media-persons it is an ideological unity and further added that by coming together of RSS and BJP, Muslim identity of the state is facing threat and they (separatists) see that Syed Ali Shah Geelani is the only person to face such a huge challenge." Shabir Shah underlined that time has come for the separatist leadership to unite and fight the challenges on a single platform when RSS and BJP are all up against them on "Mission Kashmir." Welcoming the trio in his folds, veteran hardliner separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani said that our doors are open for everyone whosoever is sincere to movement. He however castigated the Mufti Mohammad Syed led PDP-BJP government in Jammu and Kashmir allegedly for detaining separatist leaders and also warned that attempts of Government to detain separatist leaders will have serious consequences. Credible sources among separatists said that decision to join hardline faction is the outcome of open public criticism. Sources said that having altogether different ideology than Separatist leaders of Geelani led faction; these three leaders seeing themselves alienated had either to compromise with their feelings or live in isolation and the former reasons is the root cause of this joining. Sources said that since 2008, all efforts to unite Hardliner and Moderate factions of separatists in Jammu and Kashmir are proving useless as top brass of both factions resist to compromise with their status quo and ideological base.
