EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Sept 9: The society is incomplete without women and their importance should not be underestimated. This was stated by Member of Parliament Shamsher Singh Manhas while chairing "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Mission" programme held at K.C. Public School.
The programme was organized by BJYM under Ajay Vaid, who has been nominated as State Incharge of the Mission, wherein certificates of appreciation were distributed among the students who have displayed their excellence in sports, studies and other activities. A 9 minute CD having film on atrocities on females was also displayed. Shamsher Singh Manhas, while speaking on the subject, said that although we demand that women should be treated equal but in reality still they are being discriminated, subjected to crime and even they are killed in the womb if the parents come to know about the sex of the child, which is very unfortunate and need to be opposed by each one of us.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a number of schemes exclusively for the welfare, empowerment and security of the women with special focus on defeating the practice of female foeticide. He said that we should not forget the role of women even in our families and the society. "We need to take pledge to promote female child, provide best facilities for their education and oppose the centuries old practice of treating them as inferiors", he said.
Ajay Vaid, on this occasion, said that be it "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Mission" or "Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana", the sole motive has been to ensure that the female get equal opportunities and the government takes their survival and security on top agenda. He said that the programmes and scheme launched for women will be taken to remote and far flung areas of Jammu and Kashmir, wherein the women will be involved in implementing all such activities.
