MA Stadium likely to get facelift soon | | | Shiv Dev Thakur EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 9: M A Stadium, in the heart of Jammu city, is all set to get a major facelift soon to boost sports activities. The newly framed administration of J&K State Sports Council, according to sources, is keenly interested in modification of the stadium. "The council will also provide basic infrastructure in the stadium which was lacking till date," sources told Early Times. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Joint Secretary of the Sports Council, said, "We have prepared a list of the pending works as well as new ones to be completed." He said the council is going to install water coolers in the multi-purpose indoor complex and exhaust fans in the judo hall. Sharma said the council has drawn a blueprint for uplifting the stadium and some of the pending works have already got sanction from the Secretary of the council. Also, the budding sports talent of Jammu, who had to rely upon their cell phones to practice in the dark as the previous administration of the council had failed to provide power backup, will now feel comfortable as the council has taken up the issue. It may be mentioned that the previous administration of the council had done little to save the existing infrastructure from systematic decay and also failed to provide the basic facilities. |
