Trifurcate state, bifurcate Kashmir: Hari Om | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 9: Senior BJP leader and former political advisor to J&K BJP president Prof Hari Om on Wednesday demanded trifurcation of the State into Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh states and separate homeland within the Valley for the internally-displaced persecuted Kashmiri Hindus, saying the four-way split of the State has become absolutely imperative. Trifurcation of the State and bifurcation of Kashmir is a must to restrict the area of strife to the Kashmir Valley and enable the people of Jammu and Ladakh and Kashmiri Hindus to shape and control fully their political and economic future within India and under the Indian Constitution, barring the separatist and regressive Article 370, he said in a written statement. Four-way split of the State would puncture the ongoing secessionist and sectarian movement in the Valley, defeat the Pakistani evil designs and help New Delhi strengthen the nationalist constituency in this sensitive part of the country, he said, and added that J&K State is an unnatural formation consisting of three disparate regions. Division of the State has become all the more necessary considering the dangerous ganging up of all Kashmiri leaders against India and highly hostile attitude of Kashmiri leaders of all shades of opinion to even such petty demands as revival of Dogra certificate and withdrawal of the Jaya tax that was imposed on helicopter service for Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage by the ruling PDP to reduce the number of pilgrims to the Holy Shrine, Prof Hari Om asserted. "The nationalist and grossly ignored and politically marginalized people of Jammu region and Ladakh and the hounded-out Kashmiri Hindus do not want to have any kind of truck with the radicalized and pro-Pakistan Kashmiri leadership," he said, adding that they would get entirely submerged under the rising tide of Kashmiri Muslim sub-nationalism and the country would suffer huge losses in case the State is maintained as a single political unit. The people of Jammu and Ladakh and Kashmiri Hindus cannot live under a system that has given veto power to the Kashmiri leadership to determine not only the fate of the State but also the fate of the non-Muslim minorities, he said. The BJP leader urged the party high command and the Narendra Modi Government to look all these facts in the face and undertake steps aimed at isolating the Kashmiri leadership and reiterated his stand that the association of the BJP with the PDP is neither in its own interest nor in the interest of the State and nor in the larger national interest. He expressed the hope that the BJP high Command and the BJP-led NDA Government would see the writing on the wall and reassure the nationalist constituency in the state that they shall always be at their beck and call.
