BMO celebrates World Mental Health Day' 10/10/2015 10:09:26 PM Early Times Reports Rajouri, Oct 10: A function on the awareness of Mental Diseases was organized at Darhal today. in which Dr. Iqbal Malik, Block Medical Officer (BMO) with the help of other Health Officials and doctors gave a power point presentation on Mental Diseases while celebrating 'World Mental Health Day'. He imparted education to the people of the area about mental diseases and made them aware in respect of various programmes launched by the Health Department in order to provide necessary treatment and help to the patients suffering from mental diseases. The theme for this year's World Mental Health Day is "Dignity in Mental Health". This year WHO will be creating awareness amongst people with mental health conditions enabling them to continue to live life with dignity in the society . BMO informed that as per 2011 World Health reports, the magnitude of the mental disorder is 10 to 15% of the adult population and its prevalence is very high as 1 in every 5 Indians suffering from some form of mental disorder. He added that mentally ill people are always neglected due to supernatural beliefs and 90% of thepatients remains without getting medical help.
