Govt says no to 2, 3 phase of Panchayati elections 10/10/2015 10:56:06 PM Early Times Report Srinagar, Oct 10 : The government of Jammu and Kashmir today categorically refused to hold 2nd and 3rd tier elections to Panchayat Raj Institutions. In reply to AQ. No 420 of MLA Javid Hassan Baig whether government intended to hold elections to 2nd and 3rd tiers of Panchayat Raj System, Under Secretary to Government Department of Rural Development & Panchiyat Raj on behalf of incharge minister stated that the elections of 2nd and 3rd tier of Panchayat Raj System are coterminous with the term Halqa Panchayats adding that the present Halqa Panchayats are completing term by July 2016, thus according to government it will be futile exercise to initiate election process for 2nd and 3rd tier of Panchayati Raj System at this point of time, the same will be consider after the new Panchayats are in place in July 2016.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
