Rs 346.77 Cr spent on rehabilitation Dal/Nigeen lake conservation | | | Asif Iqbal Naik Srinagar Oct 10: The government of Jammu and Kashmir today stated that Rs. 346.77 Crore has so far been spent on Dal lake and Nigeen lake conservation, beside on the rehabilitation and resettlement of Dal dwellers ending financial year 2014-15. In reply to AQ. No 137 of MLA Mubarak Gul seeking details on policy adopted for development of various lakes in the valley, Under Secretary to Government Housing and Urban Development Department on behalf of Minister incharge stated that Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) was constituted by the government in the year 1997 which has mandate for conservation and management of Dal lake and Nigeen Lake, added that on the bases of DPR approved by Government of India in 2005 with financial outlay of Rs. 298.96 crores meant for the two lakes, however no such authority has been constituted for various other lakes of Kashmir including Wullar, Anchar, Khushalsar, Mansbal and others. In reply to another question regarding check on increase in encroachment around lakes, the government stated that there have been incidents where encroachments have been reported in and around Dal and Nigeen lakes for which LAWDA has taken many steps including registration of FIR against the encroacher . On rehabilitation of Dal dwellers, government has identified land measuring 7526 Kanal and 7 marlas at Rakh-i-Arth where the Dal dwellers will be rehabilitated for which 1729 plots have been allotted to them where 323 structures have been constructed by the Dal dwellers so far, beside 8 colonies have earlier also been developed at various places to accommodate them. An amount of Rs. 72 crores and Rs. 15.57 crores have been spent on development of Rakh-i-Arth Colony out of state plan and BSUP respectively while an amount of Rs. 258.85 crores has been spent by the LAWDA on conservation of and management of Dal and Nigeen lake under NLCP project till date. |
