Jammu, Oct 15: National Panthers Students Union President Virender Thakur announced that the union volunteers shall pay homage at the martyrs' memorial site in front of GGM Science College, Jammu on 17th October, 2015. He recalled that four student martyrs, who were brutally killed in indiscriminate police firing on October 17th and 18th, 1966 shall be paid homage and tributes by students organizations and the civil society in Jammu. He said that thousands of students from all over Jammu Pradesh in all the districts, colleges and institutions shall take a pledge to fight against all forms of discrimination against the youth and students. They shall also take a pledge to fight for the establishment of Jammu State so that people of Jammu Pradesh from Muzaffrabad to Kishtwar and Lakhanpur to Peer Panchal shall share the fruits of democracy, liberty, justice and shall strengthen brotherhood, unity, integrity and sovereignty of India. Bhim Singh (presently Prof.Bhim Singh, Chief Patron-JKNPP) who led the movement in 1966 for the creation of separate university of Jammu while fighting for justice, equity and identity of the youth of Jammu Pradesh shall be the Chief Guest. The Vice Chancellor of Jammu University, heads of departments, the heads of educational institutions in Jammu as well as leaders from all the nationalist political parties have also been invited to join the homage. |
