Kishtwar, Oct 15: In a major setback to local militant outfit Hizbul Mujahedeen, a joint team of Doda police and 10 RR (Rajput) during wee hours on Thursday eliminated two militants in Gadi Nullah falling under the jurisdiction of police station Dessa in Doda District. Both the eliminated militants after surrendering before the security forces were engaged as SPO's in Jammu and Kashmir police.
According to reports, based on a specific information a joint search operation led by SP Opertion Doda Sanjay Kumar Baghat under the supervision of SSP Doda Zahid Naseem Manhas and DIG DKR Nissar Ahmed was launched by District Police Doda and 10 RR (Rajput) during the preceding night and subsequently a contact was established with the two militants at about 03:00 am today. On being challenged, the militants opened fire on the search party, which was returned and in the ensuing gunfight, two militants got killed. The identity of slain militants has been established as Gul Mohammad Mingnoo @ Gulla @ Rafia Molvi S/o Bashir Ahmed Mingnoo R/o Mohalla Dandian, Tehsil and District Doda and Reyaz Ahmed S/o Abdul Rashid R/o Dedni, Tehsil Marmat, District Doda. Both the slain militants were earlier active militants of Lashker-e-Toiba and later surrendered before police. As per police record, Gul Mohd Mingnoo @ Gulla @ Molvi was active with LeT outfit in the year 2005 and operated as District Commander of LeT outfit in Dessa, Sazan, Koti, Bharat and Keshwan areas of District Doda/Kishtwar. He surrendered on 22.08.2010 before District Police, Doda alongwith Arms/Ammunition and after surrender, he was engaged as SPO in J&K Police on 29.11.2011 under belt No. 206/SPO. During the intervening night of 07/08.09.2015, he fled away from his place of posting i.e Special Police Post Kasheryan alongwith a service Rifle Insas, 03 Mags and 60 rounds. Similarly, Reyaz Ahmed S/o Abdul Rashid R/o Dedni, Tehsil Marmat, District Doda had earlier joined HM outfit in the month of Jan. 2003 and remained active in Marmat, Dudu, Basantgarh, Ramnagar and District Kathua/Udhampur respectively. He surrendered on 14.02.2004 at District Kathua and after surrender; he too was engaged as SPO in J&K Police on 09.10.2004 in District Kathua and joined DPL Doda on 06.03.2013. During the intervening night of 07/08.09.2015, he fled away from his place of posting i.e DPL Doda alongwith AK- 47 rifle, 03 Mags, and 90 rounds.
During search of both the slain terrorists, the service weapons which they had taken away at the time of deserting have been recovered from their possession.
A few months ago the Personal Security Officer of R&B Minister Altaf Bukhari also decamped with official weapon and was later seen in photos and videos of Hizb poster boy Burhan Wani in a forest of Kashmir. |
