BJP's new publicity stunt : Salutations, greetings at airport for MLAs, Speaker | 'Stage managed' shows for 'undefined victory'……! | | Early Times Report jammu, Oct 15: After culmination of Assembly session in Srinagar , BJP MLAs arrived back to Jammu amid a 'managed' show of welcome at the airport as if they had conquered any battle in the 'battleground' of Kashmir, thanks to the workers and their supporters who organised it in no time before the legislators reached Jammu airport a couple of days back. The Speaker of the Assembly Kavinder Gupta was also greeted amid same festive rituals of drumbeats and garlanding ceremony by the party workers. Sources said few days back the party's functionaries received a flurry of messages through SMSes, on whatsapp few days back that MLAs are arriving from Kashmir and that they should be given a loud reception at the airport. This was soon circulated down to workers and the supporters of the MLAs in their constituencies who converged at the airport with gala arrangement for felicitations and greetings. However, this all looked not just 'managed' show but an unwarranted scenario with many looking askance if any thing big had been achieved that called for celebrations and greetings like this for the legislators of the party and Speaker too. The legislators who received this welcome included Sat Sharma, Kuldeep Kumar, Gagan Bhagat, Rajiv Sharma besides Ravinder Raina, sources said. For this ostensible show, it was imperative for the local news channels to capture the moments of reception which they did and what the leaders perhaps wanted actually. The publicity stunts is the new found trend that is catching up with the party of giving 'heroes' welcome and salutations to leaders every time any issue erupts and party claims it solved in favour of Jammu or for the cause of Jammu. This time, the party leaders thought they had 'achieved' something big with their 'assertion' on a couple of occasions, no matter it snowballed into controversy later. So far so good. Whether such shows at airport were genuinely organised or 'stage managed', is not the issue under argument. Sources said there is majority within the party itself and even among die hard BJP supporters besides the common people who nurture grouse and resentment as to the 'poor performance' of BJP during the entire session, whether in terms of participating in the business with Jammu oriented issues or in combating the rival legislators over a host of controversial issues, barring a couple of them who showed some writ and courage. By organizing these airport welcome shows, are BJP leaders trying to show that Kashmir is like battleground and every time they come back to Jammu they come with a sense of achievement that they have won over the 'enemy'. |
