Minister attaches TSO (West), Junior Assistant with Directorate Office | Zulfkar for strict vigil in ration distribution mechanism | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu Oct 15: Asserting that Public Distribution System would be made more effective in the state to ensure that consumers are facilitated, Minister for CAPD and Tribal Affairs Ch Zulfkar Ali today said several concrete measures have been taken to streamline the system. Meantime he also attached TSO (West) and a Junior Assistant with Directorate Office for dereliction and unauthorized absence from duty. The Minister stated this during his visit to offices of Assistant Director (Mills), Assistant Director (T&S) Jammu and Tehsil Supply Officer (West). During the visit, the Minister reviewed the functioning of these offices and stressed upon the officers concerned to evolve proper mechanism for distribution of qualitative and quantitative ration to the commoners besides to contain pilferage and other malpractices. The Minister also suggested for constituting active CAPD teams which can keep hawk's eye to pre-empt malpractices and other unfair trade practices besides to ensure that proper ration and appropriate supply line is maintained. CAPD minister also directed the Assistant Directors and other concerned authorities to regularly dispatch ration as per monthly schedule to the CAPD outlets for its further distribution to the consumers. He also directed field visit to areas to closely monitor the status of ration distribution and maintain uniform scale of ration in all tehsils to bridge the gap between demand and supply and stressed for weekly reconciliation of vehicles dispatched carrying food grains and other essentials. The Minister said that government has started the overhauling to bring a discernable change in Public Distribution System. Taking serious note of shabby condition of office of the AD Mills at Ware House, the Minister directed to immediately shift the office to a suitable place. The Minister also attached TSO (West) and a Junior Assistant with Directorate Office for dereliction and unauthorized absence from duty. Earlier, the Minister during his visit to Directorate of Tribal Affairs expressing dismay over the poor performance issued strict instructions to the concerned to consolidate all relevant data and complete all the formalities so that the scholarship cases may be sanctioned in favour of the schedule tribe beneficiaries timely. The Minister was accompanied by Joint Director CAPD besides senior officers of concerned departments. Meantime Minister for CAPD and Tribal Affairs Ch. Zulfkar also conducted a surprise visit to Gujjar & Bakarwal Hostel (Boys) here today and enquired about the facilities being provided by the hostel management like accommodation, food, sanitation, education etc. The Minister said that government mulls to convert these hostels in to residential schools and for the purpose adequate infrastructure would be created in these institutions so that students belonging to tribal community would be benefitted largely. The Minister also checked the attendance register and found that Assistant Warden and a Senior Assistant were absent from duty. He directed the Warden to seek explanation from the Assistant Warden and order suspension of Senior Assistant. |
