Reasi, Oct : Krishi Vigyan Kendra(KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) organized one day training programme on "Value addition of fruits and vegetables" specially for the women farmers at village Talwara of Reasi district in which more than 15 women farmers participated. The programme was initiated by Dr.Banarsi Lal, scientist with the warm welcome of the women farmers. He gave a brief description of the value addition of fruits and vegetables. He narrated that fruits and vegetables processing has immense scope in the district and the farmers can fetch more prices by value addition of fruits and vegetables. He motivated the women farmers to start the agri-entrepreneurships and guided them to work in groups. Dr. Sheetal Badyal, home scientist elaborated the techniques of value addition of fruits and vegetables. She gave a detailed view of the jam, jelly, sauce, pickle, candy, potato chips making etc. and guided the women farmers for the adoption of scientific methods for the processing in fruits and vegetables. She further added the women farmers can generate extra income by the value addition of fruits and vegetables. She also said the women farmers that the locally available fruits such as mango, amla, lemon etc. can be scientifically processed for value addition. Dr.Banarsi narrated certain government schemes/programmes ongoing in the district specifically for the women agro-entrepreneurs. The programme was co-ordinated by Dr.Shahid Ahamad, Programme Co-ordinator, KVK, Reasi. The programme was concluded by Dr.Sheetal Badyal with vote of thanks. |
