HC seek personal appearance of Finance, Law Secys | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Oct 15: The J&K High Court on Thursday directed Finance Secretary and Law Secretary to be present before it on Friday to explain position with regard to salary of presiding officers and staff of 38 Additional Special Mobile Magistrates Courts in the state. The direction was passed by a division bench of Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Tashi Rabstan after perusal of a response filed by Secretary law department, observing that it was "directly in conflict with the court order dated 26-8-2015." On August 26, the High Court had stayed a cabinet decision regarding the abolition of 38 Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Courts and directed the government to release the salary of the presiding officers and the staff from next month onwards as well. The bench also directed the state government to release the salary of the presiding officers and the staff attached to all the 38 courts from September onwards. The court was hearing a suo motu Public Interest Litigation following a report by its registry that 38 Additional/Special Mobile Magistrates and staff attached to the Courts were not paid their salary from March 2015. |
