Tawi Trekkers announces cash prizes | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 15 : In order to encourage sport climbers and to boost sport climbing in J&K, Tawi Trekkers J&K, the pioneer trekking club of J&K has announced cash prizes for J&K sport climbers who win medals in the upcoming National Sport Climbing Competition scheduled to be held at Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) from November 27 to November 30. The gold medal winner in any category of the national competition shall get a cash prize of Rs.10000 while those silver and bronze medalists shall be awarded Rs 7000 and Rs 5000 respectively. Since three climbers of J&K have been selected to represent North Zone in all the three types of competitions, any climber winning three gold medals shall be entitled to a special cash prize of Rs.35000 whereas the winner of two gold medals shall also get a handsome cash prize of Rs 25000. "All the climbers of J&K irrespective of their club affiliations shall be eligible for the awards," said general secretary of the Club, Shawetica Khajuria. It may be mentioned here that this year, despite lack of standard climbing infrastructure in J&K, our climbers performed creditably at the 50ft high international standard lead climbing wall and speed climbing wall with star holds and bouldering on international standard gymnasium, in the North Zone competition and won 13 medals including two gold and 6 silver medals in the North Zone Competition and 7 climbers have been selected in the North Zone team for the national competition. |
