Training session in cricket for girls continues at KC Sports Club | | | JAMMU, Oct 15 : With a view to extending free training facilities to the girls of Jammu & Kashmir to empower them with all necessary skills in Cricket, KC Sports Club launched its 'Mission Possible' program last week with a batch of about 40 girls of KC Public School who received 3 intensive training sessions in the basic skills of Cricket under the guidance of Ravi Sharma, a former Ranji Cricket player from J&K, and the in-house Coach from Yuvraj Singh Centre of Excellence. The motive of the mission is to dispel the wrong notion that women cannot play cricket as efficiently as men can and to give them the opportunity to explore their potential in the game and strengthen it to the best possible extent. All training sessions spread over a period of one year are being conducted inside the indoor Cricket Hall of the Club. The second batch of 32 girls of Class 5 from KCPS began their training session this morning in the zero hour allocated exclusively for this purpose by the school. In the motivational briefing conducted by Dr. Ram Thakur, Academic Director of KCPS at the beginning of the training session, the second batch of girls also exhibited tremendous interest in the game. The training began with appropriate warm-up routine followed by introduction to basic aspects of the game such as batting, bowling and fielding. The coaches also demonstrated in detail the techniques involved in all major aspects of the game. |
