Jammu, Oct 19 : Gandhi Global Family J&K remembered its founder Late Didi Nirmala Deshpande and concluded three day remembrance function at Kachi Chowani, Jammu. The function of paying rich tribute to Late Didi Nirmala Deshpande was held by Gandhi Global Family at various parts of the State. Inaugural program was held at Lawrence Public School on 17th Oct. Floral tributes were paid to Late Didi Nirmala Deshpande on her 86th birth anniversary in a concluding function held at Kachi Chawani, Jammu. While speaking on the concluding session Padmashri S P Varma GGF Vice President said that Didi strived hard to create a new value system for establishing a peaceful society. In 1990 she visited Kashmir during turbulence and later she directed him and others to initiate peace and development work in entire region. For her social activities, Didi received the Padma Vibushan in 2006, 2nd highest civilian awards in India. Varma added that Didi played a central role in initiating LOC trade and bus services between India and Pakistan in 2005-06 adding that GGF was founded by Didi in order to share Gandhian values abroad. |
