Early Times Report jammu, Oct 19: Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was on Monday miffed over the demand of posting a Hindu Superintendent of Police in Samba district. The demand was made by a BJP Minister during Cabinet meeting held at Civil Secretariat Srinagar, forcing Mufti to leave the Cabinet meeting in anger, sources told Early Times. They said that after Mufti and his colleagues finalized transfer of senior police and civil officers, the BJP Minister Chander Prakash Ganga while deliberating on the posting of Suleman Chowdhary as SP Samba demanded posting of a Hindu SP in the district. "Ganga argued that since Samba is a Hindu majority district, the people would face problems if a non-Hindu SP is posted there," said sources. Reacting to Ganga's statement, the Chief Minister showed his anger and resentment over the uncalled for demand from the senior Minister. "What do you mean by a Hindu or Muslim SP? SP is SP, not Hindu or Muslim," sources quoted the Chief Minister as telling the BJP Minister. "Before leaving the meeting in anger, Mufti categorically told the BJP Minister that the transfers will be issued as per the agenda. Following the faceoff between the Chief Minister and the BJP Minister, the transfers of more SPs could not be done in the Cabinet meeting," said sources. |
