Recruitment scandal in PWD (R&B) department

Jammu, Oct 19: Another major recruitment scam has surfaced to further discredit National Conference-Congress coalition government, according to which a total of 128 need base employees were engaged in Roads and Building department in one go, merely on recommendation letter of Minister incharge PWD, Abdul Majeed Wani.
In response to RTI query filed by former Vice President of National Conference, the documents furnished by department speak about brazen misuse of power by Wani during his tenure as R&B Minister.
Abdul Majid Wani being Minister of PWD(R&B), forwarded a communication to the then District Superintending Engineer PWD (R&B) Circle Doda, Subash Gupta, along with a list of 128 persons for engaging as need base employees.
The then Superintending Engineer, Subash Gupta forwarded the list to the then Executive Engineer vide govt. order number DSED/R&B/4997 dated 19/8/2013. The letter forwarded by Subash Gupta to Executive Engineer reads, "Find enclosed here with the list of persons for engagement on need basis as per the application already having in your office duly recommended by Minister for R&B and Mechanical Department for necessary action."

It has been alleged that appointments were made in brazen violation of norms regarding engagement of such employees. Sources also allege that huge money exchanged hands in these illegal deals.
