Minister, 2 former Ministers facing corruption charges | For a change, SVO has sharks in its net | | Ishtiyaq Ahmad Early Times Report Srinagar, Oct 19: For a change, the State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) has sharks in its net and not just patwaris and clerks. A sitting Minister, two former Ministers and two former Managing Directors are facing probe in corruption cases. According to the Vigilance data available with the Early Times, the preliminary inquiries are going on against the Transport Minister Abdul Gani Kohli over encroachment of State land. In this regard the Vigilance Department has received the complaint on 16. 07 2015 and have initiated an enquiry. Among others who are facing corruption cases include former Managing Director SIDCO, Kifiayat Hussain Rizivi, Director SKIMS, Dr Showkat Zargar, former youth service and sports, Director J.P Singh, Abdul Majid Mir, IAS, Custodian General J&K, Dr Reyaz Farooq, Principal Govt Dental College, Srinagar, Former Transport Commissioner J&K Dilshada Khan, IAS, Jag Mohan Singh Tandon, former Managing Director, SRTC, J&K, Rekesh Sharma, Managing Director, JK Cements Ltd, Nazir Hussain Choudhary, Medical Supdt SMHS hospital Srinagar and Director CAPD department. According to available data an enquiry has been initiated against Kifiayt Hussain Razvi by the SVO for ignoring the norms for allotment of Government land during his tenure as the Managing Director SIDCO. The SVO has also taken up an investigation against Director SIKMS Dr Showkat Zargar for illegal appointments of more than 100 class IV employees. As per document available J.P Singh former Director Youth Service and Sports during his tenure has granted illegal promotion on fake degrees in 2012-13, accordingly SVO has started probe into the matter. The date also revealed that SVO has initiated enquiry against Abdul Majid Mir, IAS, Custodian General J&K for misuse of official position by allotting evacuee property to undeserving persons. SVO is also probing disproportionate assets of Dr Reyaz Farooq, Principal Govt Dental College, while, Former Transport Commissioner J&K Madam Dilshada Khan, IAS, has been, as per the report, delaying the issuance of already sanctioned Las/rout permits for which an enquiry has been instituted against her. Jag Mohan Singh Tandon, former Managing Director, SRTC, J&K, has been implicated for having conducted irregularities/ bunglings and misappropriation of an amount of Rs. 1. 50 crore. According to SVO date an enquiry against Rekesh Sharma, Managing Director, JK Cements Ltd, has been initiated and probe under way for having purchased coal from local dealer of Jammu without calling tenders. The document also reads that enquiry has been instituted against Nazir Hussain Choudhary, Medical Supdt SMHS hospital Srinagar for allotment of parking to one contractor since 2012. Besides this a sitting NC legislator, former NC Minister and Congress Minister are among those facing probe in corruption cases in the State Vigilance Organization (SVO). "The preliminary inquiries are going on against Senior NC leader, S.S Slathia, and senior Congress leader and former Revenue Minister, Raman Bhalla, over the encroachment of State land in Jammu and former Minister and NC MLA, Mohammad Akbar Lone, for making illegal appointments during his tenure as Speaker of the Assembly," reads the notes of SVO. |
