No sensitive posts for corrupt police officers | | | Early Times Report jammu, Oct 19: The Chief Minister has turned down proposal to post police officials at important and sensitive posts for their involvement in land grabbing and amassing wealth disproportionate to their income. According to the reports some police officials, who have been running land grab mafia, were pushing their case for top slots of the Police Department. A particular police official was even projecting himself as the next SSP Jammu and appearing in the local news. "This one particular police official was making turning a routine police job of investigating into a major public relation exercise . He was deliberately doing to press his case for the prize posting and was even lobbying with influential Ministers but his name was categorically struck down by the Chief Minister himself," said a senior Government official. Source said some of the police officials who had got prime postings including district heads by being attendants at the darbar of the one of the closest trustee of the outgoing Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, were trying their these tactics again with the new Government but have not succeeded till now. "The CM, who holds the Home Department, has got all the details including of the court cases of the police official. He had made it a point that no police official having any shady past will be given any prime positing. He had made it clear to the BJP who on the directions of the party chief is supporting the CM on it," said the official. Sources said the CM had also briefed the Cabinet that some police official who are deeply involved in corrupt practices including land grabbing will be prosecuted soon and the cases are being made. |
