Early Times Report kishtwar, Oct 19: In free-for-all situation during ongoing Class 10 (private) examination in Kishtwar district, the menace of mass copying was caught on the camera as two policemen were seen helping students in copying. The incident took place at Higher Secondary School Yurdoo (Marwah), forcing the police authorities to order immediate suspension of both cops. The Education Department has, however, so far failed to initiate action against the Superintendent of the Examination Center. Talking to Early Times, Superintendent of Police Kishtwar, Yougal Manhas, identified the suspended cops as Yasir Badhur and Mohammad Ashraf who were posted at Marwah police station. He said Deputy SP (operation) Kishtwar Irshad Ahanger has been asked to hold a probe into the incident. Meanwhile, Education Minister Naeem Akhtar said he immediately took up the matter with the DGP and sought disciplinary action against the accused cops. "The DGP has placed the accused cop under suspension pending inquiry, and if the charges are proved, the policeman will be dismissed from the service," Akhtar said in a statement. He said clear instructions have been conveyed to the district administrations and Education Department functionaries across the State that the Government won't tolerate any misconduct during examinations by any official or non-official and strict action would be taken against the persons involved in promoting copying menace. When contacted, Chief Education Officer Kishtwar Abdul Hamid Fani said the area has no communication and that a wireless massage has been flashed to ZEO Marwah and Principal HSS Yurdoo through police and a detail report has been sought from both the officers regarding the incident. He said that as and when the report will be received, action against officials involved in facilitating mass copying will be initiated. Notably, in its March 24 edition, Early Times reported how mass copying was a routine in Doda and Kishtwar districts. The menace of mass copying in Kishtwar got a boost with the introduction of Government job schemes like Rehbar-e-Taleem and appointment of teachers or any other posts by Service Selection Board wherein the board consider Class 12 percentage while making the appointments. In order to secure more marks in Class 12, the students grease the palms of unscrupulous officials of the Education Department who are posted as examiners during the exams. The menace of copying is more common in rural areas like Marwah, Dachhan, Warwan, Padder, Chatroo, Nagsini, Saroor, Bhunzwah and other far flung areas of Kishtwar and in many parts of Doda district where there is no road connectivity. |
