Early Times Report
jammu, Oct 19: Alleging a conspiracy in online i.e. e-tendering for drug supply, All Medical Traders from within and outside the State said in order to favour only 'blue eyed traders' the Jammu and Kashmir Medical Supply Corporation (JKMSC) Ltd has closed the tendering process despite their repeated requests that the internet services were down.
"Keeping in view of serious situation of State and poor networking i.e. speed of internet net and the ground situation across the State following the death of a youth- a victim of Udhampur petrol bomb attack, the All Medical Traders have requested to the administration of JKMSC to extend the date of online tender.
Some traders seeking anonymity informed Early Times that though they requested to extend date of tendering as many of them failed to fill tender online because of poor speed of internet in the State but officials denied their request to extend date. They alleged that keeping in view the situation across the State, the officials of JKMSC didn't extend the date perhaps they only want a chance to their blue eyed to file tender for supply of drugs to the Health Department
They also added that in the wake of bandh called in Srinagar, curfew in some parts of Punjab and electioneering in Bihar, numbers of medical traders had requested to the concerned officials who only gave verbal assurances they would do something but today they show helplessness turned down the demand of traders to extend date of tendering procedure.
Criticizing the lackadaisical approach of the JKMSC, they said majority of the traders, who wanted to fill online tenders, were left high and dry by the JKMSC and medical associations in State as well as outside the State. They expressed resentment and alleged that the callous attitude of Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Department towards them has proved that some influential persons are trying their best to get tender by all means with the help of higher ups.
They further alleged that the same tender already had been extended three or four times owing to interference of Ministers in the tender process to appease their close aids and closing tender also confirmed that the political interference exists in the system and some elements within JKMSC don't want tenders to go in hands of those- who are dedicated medical suppliers.
"If JKMSC extends date for the same, then more competitors might have participated resulting into good competition, "they claimed.
Managing Director of JKMSC, Dr Yashpal Sharma could not be contacted for his comments despite repeated attempts.
