Jammu, Oct 19: Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association today held its general body meeting here at Bhadrore in which they sought continuation of reservation in promotion. According to press release, members of association said that the SC/ST people of the state have not fully developed in all respects and as such, the recent judgement of the State High Court that abolished benefits of reservation in promotions, would deprive these people to rise up, come at par with the evolved products and keep their place in the society. The Association stressed and urged upon the Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed and SC/ST Ministers to ensure social upliftment and advancement of weaker sections in the State at all levels including promotions. The Association prepared a memorandum of basic and genuine demands of Batwal community and sent it to Chief Minister's Secretariat at Srinagar. The Association also forwarded its copies to the J&K State Advisory Board for Welfare and Development of Scheduled Castes and the Advisor to Chief Minister Professor Amitabh Mattoo with the request to kindly pursue the matter. Capt. Kamal Chand Motan, Capt. Ram LalSargotra, Capt. Om Parkash Tugga, Capt. Prem Singh Sargotra , Capt. Raj Kapoor Sargotra, Sub. Maj. Krishan Lal Kashyap, Naib Sub. Rashpal Chand Bassa, Naib SarpanchS om Nath Tugga and Mela Ram Tugga were also present on the occasion. |
