JAKEDA holds workshop on concentrated solar technology

Jammu, Oct 19: Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA) today organized a sensitization workshop on concentrated solar technology. While addressing the gathering, Chief Executive Officer JAKEDA Shafat Sultan said that the agency will identify potential sites for the use of concentrated solar technology in Jammu region. It was informed in the workshop that Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has initiated a potential assessment of application of concentrated solar technology. In order to promote this technology, the MNRE and United Nations Development Programme is giving upto 75 per cent subsidy for community cooking and process heat applications. Consultant appointed by MNRE for this project, Dr. Mahesh Patankar informed that the initial phase of this study is to identify 30 sites in Jammu and prepare Detailed Project Reports for few sites in consultation with JAKEDA. During the workshop, Managing Director of Taylormade Solar Solutions Dharmendra Gor informed about the benefits of using concentrated solar technology in community kitchens, prisons, colleges, police academies and other places where food is cooked in large quantities.
The workshop was attended by Principal Government Medical College, Jammu Dr. Ghanshyam Dev, JAKEDA District Officer, Jammu Deepak Sharma and engineers of JAKEDA.
