RAMBAN, Oct 19: A team of Legal Metrology Department headed by Assistant controller, Kapil Jamwal inspected various business establishments at Ramban and Batote and booked 14 erring traders for violation of Legal Metrology Act (LMA). As many as 14 Challans were compounded by the concerned on the spot and penalty of Rs 8800 was recovered from erring traders.
Assistant Controller directed all the traders to use only verified weights and measures for business transactions and display P, PKD, Net Contents, complete address and Consumer Care Number on the commodities to be sold in package form. The department has also warned the unscrupulous traders to desist away from using unfair trade practices and appealed to the consumers to remain vigilant while purchasing the commodities. |
