Devotional songs, festivity marked 6th Navratra

Jammu, Oct 19: The 6th Navratra was celebrated by Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir, Management Trust, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu through enthralling dance shows based on religious themes in the temple complex.
It was part of the unique Navratra festival being organized by the Trust. Danish Rana IGP Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion.
The religious dance evening began with traditional Ganesh Vandana presented by a group of 18 students. The students of Dogra Higher Secondary School and Rich Harvest School mesmerized the gathering through their enchanting depiction of the epic of Ramayana and tradition of Navratras by their dance performances.
The students narrated the epic of Ramayana through their speaking actions in their dance performance. The role of goddess Sita performed by Divya Sharma evoked thunderous applause.
The entire gathering was spell bound when the young students attired nine goddesses descended on the stage one by one amidst recitation of Shaloks explaining religious significance of each goddess. It was a feat unparalleled for small girls and was hugely appreciated by all.
Impressed by the outstanding performances of the students, Gulchain Singh Charak, Former Minister announced cash awards of Rs. 21,000 for the groups who presented the epic of Ramayana and story of Navratras. Being Chairman of Dogra Educational Trust he also announced cash award of Rs. 10,000 each to other participants of the both schools. All the participants were given mementos and certificate.
Danish Rana, the Chief Guest lauded the performances of the participants and said that such performances needed to be held at different places to educate the society of our rich cultural heritage.
The president of the trust honoured the chief guest in traditional manner by presenting "Maa ki Chunni" and "Memento of Lord Shri Lakshmi Narayan ji".
The principal of Rich Harvest School Anita Bhatia was also honoured on the occasion.
